NSS Survey Success for Hull York Medical School

Hull York Medical School is celebrating the results of the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), recently published, in which student feedback placed them ahead of the sector across all survey themes. 

Nearly half a million students from institutions across the UK are invited to take part in the NSS each year. As part of the survey, they are asked to provide honest feedback about what it has been like to study on their course at their chosen university or college – reflecting on everything from teaching to academic support and wellbeing services.  

In this year’s results, the Medical School has improved significantly since 2024, across all 9 areas and above the sector benchmark, particularly across Teaching on my Course, Learning Opportunities, Assessment and Feedback and Mental Wellbeing Support. The feedback from final year students highlights the School’s commitment to delivering high-quality medical education and a student-centred experience. 

Professor Matthew Morgan, Dean of Hull York Medical School, said: "We are focused on delivering exceptional medical education and our aim is to maintain an environment where students feel challenged, supported and heard. 

"This year’s NSS results are testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff in support of this and reflect our shared commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience – one where students are able to achieve academic excellence and also feel empowered and valued." 

Although the NSS results are only one indication of success, they provide the School with valuable information and insight to help identify best practice and areas for future improvement. 

For future medicine students considering applying for 2026 entry, the results evidence the quality of the experience offered by Hull York Medical School.  

Hull York Medical School was ranked 5th in the UK for Medicine as part of the Guardian Good University Guide 2025.
